Have everyone in your household hop on a bike and pedal to any of the 16 participating parks in Brookhaven.
Locate the selfie spot in each park, snap a shot while wearing a bike helmet, and share it on social media tagged with #pedaltheparksbrookhaven and #explorebrookhaven.

We’ve done the planning so you and your family can focus on the fun!
First, pick what type of ride you are looking to enjoy.
There is no event fee, no event insurance, no implied warranty of any kind as to the fitness and safety of this event for those who choose to participate. Do not participate if you are not comfortable with the risks of riding bikes.
Obey all rules of the road. Plan your rides to use low-traffic, bike-friendly routes.
Wear a helmet while riding your bike—it’s for your own safety!
Be a good ambassador for bikes. Give way to pedestrians, and do NOT antagonize car drivers (even if they antagonize you).
Selfies: Participant or household must upload a selfie at the designated selfie spot in the parks using #pedaltheparksbrookhaven and #explorebrookhaven to be eligible to win.
A household or group can use the same selfie but each household must upload to at least one social media account (if your group includes multiple households, each household must upload individually).
Selfies must be uploaded during the month of May, before midnight May 31, 2021.
Selfies should include either a bike or bike helmet.
Selfies can be uploaded to the Brookhaven Bike Alliance Facebook group, or to participant’s own social media account (facebook, instagram, twitter) as long as hashtags are included.
Winners will be verified with #pedaltheparksbrookhaven and #explorebrookhaven to ensure selfies were uploaded.
Park Prizes: We have 25 prizes for each level, while supplies last. Do not wait to upload till the end of the month to secure your prize!
One prize per household. Not every member in a household has to have completed all parks but at least one member in the household must have completed the highest number of parks submitted. For instance, younger kids in the family could have done just 5 parks and the parent(s) completed 10, allowing the household to enter for a total of 10 parks.
Prize levels: Bronze 4 parks = umbrella. Silver 8 parks = picnic blanket. Gold 16 parks = picnic basket
If you miss out on your level due to the limit reached you will revert back to a lower level prize pending supplies in that level.
Photo contest: You can win the weekly photo contest with the most creative, fun or artistic photo.
Weekly photo winner selected by the Brookhaven Bike Alliance board members.
Grand prize photo winner selected for best photo of the month. Photos will be voted on by the residents of Brookhaven.
If multiple families were riding in a group and shared the same photo and win, the prize is shared.
Weekly prize $25 gift card at REI; grand prize winner is a $200 gift card at REI.
Participation prizes: Each participant (not per household) who pedaled to at least one park gets a prize.

Submission/Pickup: Participant’s final accomplishments must be logged and entered by 12 AM (midnight) June 2nd to be eligible for prizes.
To submit your entry, you must first subscribe to our email list; all subscribers will receive the Pedal the Park entry submission form.
Photo contest and Challenge prize winners will be announced at the Brookhaven City Council meeting on Tuesday June 15th.
Prizes can be picked up at the council meeting or at the Brookhaven farmers market on June 19th.
