6th Annual
Pedal the Parks

6 miles, 6 parks, tons of prizes!

Every May, hundreds of families celebrate National Bike Month by participating in Brookhaven's annual Pedal the Parks event.  The family-friendly event highlights Brookhaven’s pride in public parks and commitment to a bike-friendly community, all while connecting residents with local community organizations.

Event Details

When does it occur?

On Sunday, May 5th, 2024 starting 1:30 p.m., bicyclists will begin to gather at Skyland park for a family-friendly 6-mile group ride. At 2 p.m. sharp, bicyclists will begin pedaling from Skyland park to visit 5 other public parks across Brookhaven. The City of Brookhaven Police will be posted at key intersections to ensure the safety of all participants.

Riders are encouraged to stop at each park to collect a stamp in their Pedal the Parks passport. Local Brookhaven community organizations will provide the stamps along with some fun perks, too!

What are the prizes?

To win a prize, participants must complete the 6-park passport, which will serve as their sweepstakes entry.  Prizes include gift cards to several local businesses as well as nifty bike accessories, all donated to by our wonderful sponsors.

How will I know if I won a prize?

Winners will be announced at the end of the event at 3:45 p.m. One should be present to win.

Who manages the event?

The event is managed by the Brookhaven Bike Alliance in partnership with Explore Brookhaven and the City of Brookhaven Parks and Recreation. The Brookhaven Bike Alliance works closely with the City of Brookhaven to advocate for safer streets and better citywide connectivity for bicyclists of all ages.

Ride Responsibly!

  • Practice an “ABC quick check”. Before you ride, always check the tire air pressure, brakes & cables, chain, and quick release.

  • Obey all the rules of the road. Our route is a low-traffic, residential route, but you should always know and follow the rules.

  • Wear a helmet. Georgia's bicycle helmet law requires every biker under the age of 16 to wear a helmet.

  • Be a good ambassador for bikes. Give way to pedestrians and do NOT antagonize car drivers (even if they antagonize you).

There is no event fee, no event insurance, no implied warranty of any kind as to the fitness and safety of this event for those who choose to participate. Do not participate if you are not comfortable with the risks of riding bikes.

Thanks to our Sponsors!

Not only to our event sponsors provide participant prizes, but they financially support Brookhaven Bike Alliance. Please thank them by visiting them — ideally on your bike — and mentioning the Pedal the Parks event.
